English Transitional Revolver, c. 1840-1850
This unusual double action revolver is about 52 caliber. It features a bar hammer, 6-shot cylinder, and a 5-inch barrel. While free of any markings indicating its manufacturer, it does include several dull marks that appear to be inspection stamps. Otherwise, this revolver is highly decorated with engraving on the frame, cylinder, bar hammer, trigger guard, and barrel. The single-piece wood grip is checkered. Overall length is about 11 1/2". The double action is mechanically sound and crisp. This revolver is estimated to have been produced some time between 1840 and 1850.
