31 caliber single shot percussion pistol with a 3.5" octogonal-to-round barrel. This pistol features the Maynard primer mechanism on the frame, operated by sliding the plate up. Excellent walnut grips. Nice patina. Decorative scroll engraving on frame. Barrel marking (difficult to make out) is "MASS. ARMS CO. CHICOPEE FALLS." The hinged door for the primer magazine is marked "MAYNDARD'S PATENT SEP. 22, 1845."
