Allen & Wheelock Small Frame Pocket Revolver
This Allen & Wheelock revolver is sometimes called a “Transitional Pepperbox Revolver.” It is a 30 caliber with a 5-shot barrel and a 2.5” octagonal barrel. It has a bar hammer with double action. Only about 1,000 were produced between 1858 and the early 1860s. Serial number 486. Cylinder features an engraved forest scene, quite visible. Barrel is marked, faintly at times, “ALLEN & WHEELOCK, WORCESTER MASS ALLEN’S PATENT, APRIL 16, 1845.” Walnut grips. Nica patina. Double action functions very well.
