Allen & Wheelock Medium Frame Pocket Revolver
This very scarce Allen & Wheelock double action pocket model is considered a "transitional pepperbox revolver." It is 32 caliber with a 5-shot cylinder and a 4-inch barrel. It features a bar hammer style, with "PATENTED APRIL 16, 1845" stamped on the left side of the hammer. Barrel marked "ALLEN & WHEELOCK WORCESTER, MASS. ALLEN'S PATENT APRIL 16, 1845." Serial number 389 marked on cylinder, which also features a nice and very visible hunting scene engraving. Mechanically sound with crisp action. Rounded walnut grips. It is estimated that only around 500 were produced.
